Unlock the full potential of your sample library

Match by tonal key and harmony: a smart filter surfaces the right sample from thousands in your library — in seconds, not after 15 minutes of digging.

Windows 10/11 · local-first · no cloud · files untouched

Free and complete. Leave your email on the download page and the file starts straight away.

Pain → solution

Stop cycling the same 15–30 samples

It’s not about how folders are arranged. Most sessions run on a tiny basket of “trusted” one-shots and loops — the rest of the library sits unused.

Problem

Folders everywhere — but only a narrow basket of “go-to” one-shots and loops makes it into the session.

Orbit

A local catalog of your entire library.

  • roles · tonal key · BPM
  • no file rewrites
Problem

Finder hunts, DAW folder browsers, and ear-testing eat your session time.

Orbit
  • Match to session tonal key and harmonic key
  • score on top
  • “Why this sample is on top” on hover
Problem

File names cannot replace matching to the track you are building.

Orbit

Match by sound and tags — not by filename.

  • character and brightness
  • arrangement role
  • your own tags
Problem

DAW sync breaks: BPM and tonal key live in your head; the library lives somewhere else.

Orbit
  • session + BPM bridge
  • circle of fifths wheel
  • drag where you need it
  • CLAP bridge — separate feature

What the Orbit Analyzer does

Orbit is a local analyzer for your sample folder: it reads audio and writes tonal key, BPM, role, character, and brightness into a database on your disk. Then matching surfaces the right samples for your current session — by harmony and tags, with no cloud and no file rewrites.

Sample Orbit: local libraries — folder sync with progress
Library · folders · sync

Does

  • Scans folders: tonal key, BPM, role, character, brightness, dynamics.
  • Ranks Match for the session — key and BPM by default; turn them off to browse by tags.
  • “Why this sample is on top” — what puts the Match row above the rest.
  • Drag from the app into a DAW, file browser, or any folder.

Does not

  • Rewrite or move WAV files on disk.
  • Require the cloud or upload your library to a server.
  • Write the track for you or replace your session.
  • Not a track generator.
  • Not a second browser inside your DAW.

Harmony

Tonal key, harmonic key and circle of fifths

Set the session tonal key on the wheel — Orbit surfaces samples by harmonic key neighborhood: home tonality, relatives, and compatible degrees.

  • Match to the track’s tonal key — not “guess from the filename”.
  • In the match score, tonal key comes first; BPM and role refine the Match list order.
Session tonal key · circle of fifths

In short: the circle of fifths / harmonic key is a map of “what sits next to what.” Orbit matches in key first; BPM is a secondary score factor.

Match

Filters and the session list

Type, character, layers, brightness, roles, and elements — then a ranked list with match score.

Strict key and BPM matching can be turned off — browse by tags, role, and character only.

  • Add your own tags to the filter panel — pin what you actually click every session.
  • Remove unused tags from the panel so the UI stays on your workflow, not the full catalog noise.

Why

Score breakdown for the session

Hit “?” on a Match row — Orbit shows why the sample sits on top: score formula, key, BPM, role, character, brightness, and dynamics.

Example: session F#m / 174 BPM. A neuro bass tagged F#m gets Key fit 100% and rises — not because the filename looks right, but because the harmonic key matched. BPM 172 scores high but not absolute; role bass and character smooth refine the rank.

  • Priority: tonal key → BPM → role → character → brightness.
  • See key sources (Orbit / tag / file) and analysis confidence.
  • Signal block — RMS, Peak, spectral brightness: why the layer feels that way.

SPIKE

Similar or contrasting timbre

Set a reference (“Set” on a row) — SPIKE re-ranks Match by texture: Similar or Complement. Session harmony stays; the comparison axis becomes timbre.

  • Reference shows in the SPIKE panel with waveform; Clear exits the mode.
  • Header shows how many texture matches SPIKE found.
  • Off — back to harmonic ranking without a timbre reference.

Into the project

Drag from the row

Grab the handle on the left — the file goes to a DAW, a file browser, or any folder. Sources stay put: Orbit hands over a path, it doesn’t carve up your library.

  • Hover the handle to preview waveform and filename before the drop.
  • Works from Match — no export step, no cloud.

FL Studio

CLAP bridge to the session

A thin plugin on an FL channel — not a second sample browser. Orbit Desktop owns the library, Match, and drag; from FL you drive session context.

  • OPEN — launch Orbit Desktop from the plugin.
  • BPM and tonal key — pull tempo/key from the host (or set them manually).
  • AUTOSCAN — the main FL mode today: the plugin reads session context for Match.
  • PUSH — send parameters into Orbit; key and BPM are not guessed from nothing.
  • Not drag-and-drop and not a file list inside the plugin — drag stays in Desktop.
  • CLAP format, FL Studio 2024.1+; other DAWs later.
